Exploration:
Many Southern Californians are unaware of the diverse underwater environments and marine life just off our shores. The giant kelp forests, located just beyond our local beaches and islands, are among the most productive ecological communities in the ocean, providing a rich home for hundreds of unique plant and animal species. Our boat trips to the nearby islands offer a variety of dive sites—from the vibrant kelp forests to dramatic pinnacles and reefs teeming with life. Whether you're weaving through swaying kelp, photographing colorful nudibranchs, discovering rays and moray eels in the reefs, or playing with curious sea lions, Eco Dive Center has a trip tailored for you. We also organize tropical excursions to stunning dive sites across the globe. Education:
As divers learn about and experience marine life, they develop an appreciation for its intrinsic value and the critical role it plays in the global ecosystem. Eco Dive Center offers a variety of courses to deepen this understanding, including the Research Diver, Underwater Naturalist, and our new Eco Diver specialty certification. These programs are designed to raise awareness about the issues threatening aquatic life, foster an appreciation for marine ecosystems, and teach proper interaction with the underwater world. We offer courses for all levels—from first-time divers with no experience to seasoned professionals looking to advance their skills. Our fun and free monthly Eco Dive Club meetings are the perfect place to broaden your educational horizons. Conservation:
Scuba divers are fortunate to explore the ocean's vast playground and witness its delicate ecosystems firsthand. At Eco Dive Center, we feel a strong responsibility to promote environmental awareness and sustainable practices. We are actively involved in community and global conservation efforts to protect and restore our marine environment. We're proud to work with esteemed organizations like the NRDC, Ocean Defenders, and Baykeepers, which are dedicated to safeguarding our local waters and beaches through restoration, monitoring, political advocacy, and education.
Through our educational programs, divers gain an appreciation for the ocean’s beauty and the sensitive nature of marine ecosystems. Our courses, such as Research Diver, Fish Identification, Underwater Naturalist, and Eco Diver certification, help students understand the importance of marine life and teach them how to interact responsibly with the underwater world.
