Flat Rock in Palos Verdes, CA

This famous beach diving site in the South Bay is called "Flat Rock" and it's a rocky beach boasting a difficulty level of 9 (out of 10!), but hands down is one of the best dive sites in LA County. You definitely have to be in good - great cardiovascular shape to dive this adventurous site.

Interests: Lots of lobster are found at Flat rock. In addition, Octopus, Shepherd, Garibaldi, Blacksmith, and a few Tree-fish are commonly seen or photographed.

Entry & Exits: The trail leading to and front the dive site is extremely dangerous. Use caution and execute prudent judgement when diving this location.

Suggestions: Charter a local dive boat out of Marina del Rey and save yourself the wal / swim.

Best time to Dive: During the fall or winter months.

Visibility: 20 - 35ft

Warnings: Use prudent judgement when Beach Diving, perform an environmental assessment of the area before you gear up.

Depth Recommendations: 15 - 40ft is where most of the points of interest are for this site.

Safety: Use of float, flag, anchor and drop line for beach diving. Cell phone and oxygen first aid kit should always be available.
