Dive with Bull Sharks and Explore Mexico’s Caverns with Eco Dive Center
Posted by Kaileigh on on Sep 24th 2025
If you’ve been dreaming of diving with sharks or exploring ancient underwater caves, Eco Dive Center Los Angeles has the perfect adventure lined up. We're excited to announce new opportunities to experience bull shark diving and cenote cavern diving in Mexico — two of the most sought-after experiences in the scuba world.
These trips run twice a year, offering divers a chance to witness the raw beauty of the ocean's apex predators and explore the tranquil mystery of Mexico’s famous freshwater cenotes. Whether you’re an adrenaline-seeker, a cave diving enthusiast, or a diver looking to advance your training, this experience delivers.
Dive with Bull Sharks in Playa del Carmen
Just offshore from Playa del Carmen, the waters transform every year between November and March, as pregnant bull sharks return to the region’s sandy shallows. Known locally as Shark Point, this site offers one of the best places in the world to dive with bull sharks in the wild.
Descending to around 24 meters (80 feet), divers settle onto the sandy bottom while 12 to 15 bull sharks glide silently overhead — powerful, graceful, and surprisingly uninterested in humans. Some dives are passive observation dives, while others involve controlled, professionally managed baiting, allowing for unforgettable but respectful encounters.
This isn’t just an adrenaline rush — it’s a chance to witness sharks in their natural habitat, while supporting a model of shark tourism that promotes conservation and discourages local shark fishing through community-based agreements.
Please note: Advanced Open Water certification is required for this dive due to the depth and environmental conditions.

Explore the Caverns of the Yucatán
Complementing the excitement of shark diving, this trip also includes opportunities for cavern diving in the crystal-clear cenotes of the Yucatán Peninsula — a completely different kind of diving that’s serene, surreal, and truly unforgettable.
These freshwater sinkholes offer amazing visibility, light beams piercing the darkness, and ancient limestone formations, giving you a unique look into Mexico’s geological and cultural past. It’s no surprise that cenote and cavern diving in Mexico are considered must-do experiences for any serious diver.
Interested in taking your training further? You can also complete your Cavern Diver certification during the trip. With guidance from our certified instructors, you'll learn how to safely navigate overhead environments, manage light and line protocols, and gain the skills needed for future cave diving or technical training.
