Night Diver Certification Course: Dive Into the Dark with Confidence

Are you ready to experience the thrill of exploring the underwater world after the sun sets? Our Night Diver Certification Course is designed to teach you the essential skills and techniques needed to safely and confidently dive at night. The ocean takes on an entirely new and magical character at night, with different marine life and unique challenges. With this course, you’ll gain the knowledge and skills required to safely enjoy this fascinating underwater experience.

What’s Included in the Course:

  • SDI or PADI Certification: Upon successful completion of the course, you’ll earn a Night Diver certification through either SDI (Scuba Diving International) or PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors). You'll be able to dive at night with full confidence, whether you’re diving with a group or exploring solo.

  • Course Requirements:

    • SDI: Complete two dives as part of your certification course. Done in ONE Night!

    • PADI: Complete four dives during the course (diving over two separate night diving sessions).

    • These dives will include both shore dives at night, where you will practice essential skills and gain hands-on experience in real-world conditions.

  • Scuba Gear Rentals: The course includes rental of all basic scuba gear such as a BCD (buoyancy control device), regulator, wetsuits and tanks. You won’t have to worry about the usual gear—just show up and we’ll take care of the rest!

  • Lights Required: For your safety and to ensure an optimal experience, you’ll need to bring your own primary dive light and a backup light. We highly recommend that you invest in high-quality dive lights specifically designed for underwater use.
Don't worry about the cost—we offer a discount on dive lights at our shop. You can either come in and pick out your gear, or if you prefer, we’ll send you an online shopping code for free shipping and no sales tax on your lights.

What You’ll Learn:

  1. Night Diving Techniques: You’ll learn the essential skills for diving at night, including how to navigate, communicate with your buddy, and manage your buoyancy in low-visibility conditions.
  2. Using a Dive Light: You’ll practice how to properly use your primary dive light and backup light to illuminate your surroundings, spot marine life, and stay safe in the dark.
  3. Safety Protocols: Night diving presents unique challenges such as reduced visibility, potential disorientation, and the need for greater awareness of your surroundings. You’ll learn how to deal with these challenges and dive safely at night.
  4. Marine Life at Night: The ocean takes on a completely different life at night. You’ll have the opportunity to witness nocturnal marine life that is not typically seen during the day, from bioluminescent creatures to the behaviors of fish and other sea animals at night.

Course Structure:

  • Theory: First, we’ll cover the theory behind night diving, including safety, lighting, navigation, and emergency procedures.
  • In-water Skills: After you’ve mastered the theory, we’ll move to the water. This includes practicing with your lights, navigation, buddy checks, and dive techniques.
  • Dives: Your certification dives will take place in safe, controlled environments, where you’ll be guided by our experienced instructors. You’ll complete the required dives, experience night diving first-hand, and apply everything you've learned.

Course Requirements:

  1. PADI or SDI Certification: To enroll in the Night Diver Course, you must already be a certified Open Water Diver or have a higher-level certification (SDI Open Water Diver, PADI Open Water Diver, or equivalent).
  2. Health & Fitness: You must be in good physical health, as with any scuba diving activity. A signed medical form may be required depending on your medical history.
  3. Minimum Age: The minimum age for the Night Diver course is typically 12 years old.

Important Rules & Safety Guidelines for Night Diving:

  1. Buddy System: Always dive with a buddy. This is crucial in night diving, as having a second person nearby ensures you can help each other in case of an emergency.
  2. Use Your Lights Wisely: Your primary and backup lights are essential for visibility and communication. Make sure both lights are fully charged and ready to go before your dive.
  3. Stay Close to Your Buddy: Night diving can feel isolating, so it’s crucial to maintain close proximity to your buddy. Communicate effectively using your dive light, signaling when needed.
  4. Watch Your Buoyancy: In low-light conditions, it’s easy to become disoriented. Be mindful of your buoyancy and keep your depth under control throughout the dive.
  5. Stay Calm and Relaxed: Night diving can be intimidating, especially for beginners. However, staying calm and taking things slowly will ensure that you have an enjoyable and safe experience.

Discounts and Additional Benefits:

  • Dive Light Discounts: As part of the course, we offer a discount on dive lights in our shop. If you prefer to shop from home, we’ll provide you with a special online shopping code that will allow you to buy your lights with free shipping and no sales tax.
  • Ready to Dive Again?: Once you complete the Night Diver Course, you’ll be able to apply your certification to future night dives and explore the ocean like never before!
